Core Considerations: Anti-Rotation Exercises for Runners

"There are better ways than crunches for runners to build sport-specific core strength."

I've discussed core training for runners tons on this blog...but I bet you this one takes the cake.  The newest issue of Running Times Magazine just came out.  It's the July/August 2011 issue with Shannon Rowbury on the cover.

I'm really excited to share with you my co-authored article with Dr. Carla Cupido, a fantastic chiropractor in Vancouver, BC in this month's Running Times called Core Considerations - There are better ways than crunches for runners to build sport-specific core strength.

In this article we discuss the importance of having a strong core when running.  We show some of the best exercise options when deciding what to do at the gym or at home and we also quote the best-of-the-best in the "track-world" with regards to core training...some of the names include:
  • Shalane Flanagen
  • Nick Symmonds
  • Reid Coolsaet
  • Coach Dave Scott-Thomas
  • Cocah Paula Schnurr
By the way...we also made the cover with this quote seen at the top of the magazine:

"Build a core that works: 4 unique exercises for endurance + speed"
