My Favourite Kettlebell Resources

<-----------WTF!!!!  Many trainers and trainees out there do not train with kettlebells (KBs) correctly.  Not even Jillian Michaels!  (that's horrendous technique!!!)

I was intrigued when I first heard about KB lifting roughly 3-4 years ago.  I wanted to learn more about it but wasn't sure where to turn.  Today there are many books on KB training but only a select few are actually worth reading and owning.  I've also worked and consulted with the best KB coaches I could find (James Talo RKC Level II, Carmen Bott RKC Level I, Tricia Dong RKC Level I, Shane Heins Tacfit Certified and Tom Corrigan IKSFA Certified Coach).  They all helped me take my KB training from the sh$ts to where it is today.  I use KBs to improve my GPP (general physical preparedness) and to add variety to my training routine.  I've built strength and explosive power that I wouldn't be able to do by just using dumbbells.

So, from my experience, I believe these are the best KB resources on the market.  I have provided a link to purchase these resources if you decide to.  I'm not going to try and hide it, but yes, I will get a small commission from each of your purchases - and when I say small, I mean small.  However, your loyalty and support of my blog and commissions all help keep this blog going.  So please, if you decide to purchases any of these resources, do so by clicking the book cover or link provided.  Thanks.

This is my most recent training resource on KB training.  In my humble opinion, this is by far the best most comprehensive book on working out with KBs on the market.  I read the book (over 300 pages) in just over a week.  It's an easy read with tons of colourful pictures, do's and don'ts, prescription drills for common errors and sample workouts with program design tips.

Jeff thoroughly explains all the variations of lifts possible with KBs.  He also discusses how to develop rotational power and even takes a look into the actual sport of KB lifting.

This book is great for trainers and strength coaches, but also very applicable for the general population.

A very enjoyable read.

"When we say strength, we mean KB.  When we say KB, we mean strength." -Pavel

This was my first book on KB training.  This was an enjoyable read that not only taught how to safely work with KBs, but Pavel also discusses a lot about strength training and the effects and benefits of training with KBs.

He also touches on the history of KB training in the old Soviet Russia which is very cool.

I've used EVERY drill Pavel teaches in this book to help my KB technique and my clients (with great success).

This is another great resource from Pavel.  He begins the book by going into the history of KB lifting and how this type of training was implemented in the Russian Military, known as the Red Army.

What's also important about KB training, which can be transferred to other athletic endeavours, which Pavel does a great job of in this book, is how to breathe correctly when KB training.  Conscious thought needs to include the correct breathing mechanics, not only to improve movement efficiency, but also to improve strength and power output.  The power of the breath - pretty cool stuff.

Pavel doesn't just preach KB training as the end-all-be-all, he does a great job of discussing the application of KB training to other disciplines, such as Olympic lifting, hypertrophy training and fat loss.

This was my first DVD I bought on KB lifting.  Brett Jones does a wonderful job at teaching the techniques of each primary KB lift (swing, clean, snatch, deadlift, press and turkish get-up to name a few) while stressing the most important part: safety.

I learned a lot with this DVD and immediately applied it to my KB training.

A definite DVD to have in your home library.

If you chose to purchase any of these resources, I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did/do.

Good luck with your kettlebell training and be safe.

Thanks for reading,

-JK
