Our Manifesto

At JKC, we believe that talking about our goals is important to help us bring a clear vision into reality.

A manifesto, or a statement of intentions, reminds us to strive to be better everyday. Our manifesto is symbolized by the image of the dragon.

The dragon represents triumph over adversity, renewed fire within, and transformation through self-knowledge.

Not only do we build physical strength in the gym but the physical practice also builds strength of character. We can use this strength to help us create a vision for our lives and develop perseverance to achieve it.

As part of our community, we want to help you be better everyday. You’ll see the dragon image throughout our gym space as a reminder of why we’re all here.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help people become their strongest, fittest selves through expert coaching in a nonjudgmental, supportive gym environment.

How We Work

Most fitness professionals promise “6 pack abs in 6 weeks,” or a similar message. We don’t do before and afters because there is no “after.” There is only continuous improvement. Also, our group training creates a community. When you join JKC, you are joining something bigger than yourself.

Custom Workouts in a Group Environment

Get the best of both worlds: a custom plan tailored to your needs and current ability along with the support from the JKC fitness community.

We Offer Flexible Scheduling

No locked-in days or times here. Train when’s convenient for you so you don’t have to miss workouts.

Pay As You Go

Enjoy a different fitness experience. Pay for training on your terms with no long-term membership fees. Out of town? No worries. Only pay when you workout.

I had spent a fair bit of time in gyms in my teens and twenties but I turned away from the gym to focus on activities that I enjoyed more. What keeps me at JKC is that I do really enjoy it. I always feel that I’ve accomplished something when I leave at the end of my workout. The environment is really positive and focused on challenging yourself whatever your level of comfort and fitness. I’ve also seen results that I’m really happy with; having someone who really knows what they’re talking about to guide your workouts makes them way more effective and focused than just “going to the gym”.

Shortly after I started at JKC, I sustained a fairly major injury that took me off my feet for several months. When I started to get back to activity, it was very difficult. Jon and Thomas worked hard to tailor my workouts to my goals and what I could do. With their help, I’ve been steadily building back strength and function.

I heard somewhere that achieving your health goals is determined largely by what you do in the kitchen. I am grateful to have found Julia who brought direction and accountability to this most important piece for me. Having Julia in my corner has brought me confidence and certainty that I am on my way to achieving my goals. I highly recommend her if you are serious about making a change and feeling better about your health.

I started at JKC because my colleagues that go to JKC all look and felt fit and healthy thanks to Jon and Thomas – if JKC helped them, I knew they could do the same for me! I think JKC stands out from other gyms because of their personal touch! They listen to you and help motivate and support. They always believe in my ability progress and learn new exercises. I’ve been training at JKC since January of 2019 and recommend them to anyone looking to learn how to lift weight properly, feel stronger, and improve their health.

My original reason for joining JKC was to get some sage advice to help with my running. I had been looking for awhile, came across Jon, met for an assessment, and was quite happy with how that all went. Apart from the running specific strengthening and conditioning approaches, JKC is different from other gyms as I am a fan of the small group sessions where everyone has their own goals and individualized programs. As well, the run coaching is super. All the coaches go the extra mile to make sure you get the best out each training session. They are fantastic motivators! My favourite memory is deadlifting 330lbs. Making a lot of great friends and meeting some really cool people is pretty high up on that list, too.
